Every
comedy writer/comedian should revisit their childhoods. Make
a list of things you use to enjoy as a kid. Remember some of the
stuff you use to do. School, camps, places you would go. Any events
or activities, food or drink you use to love? Any favorite
transportation...bike, razor scooter, skateboard?? Some of your
favorite weird memories of uncles, aunts, cousins. Write them down. What
is different between then and your present life? What are the changes that have
happened? Could
anything from your childhood be brought to today and added to your life now? What
if you tried? If you could keep only one toy from childhood, what
would it be? Have
fun with this....just play with a list of childhood things and
memories. Remember you're not looking for stories necessarily, simple
images and flashes of emotions. That's the ticket for writing. |
