MORE THINGS THAT HAVE SUNK IN DOING COMEDY

FEW MORE THINGS I'VE LEARN WHILE DOING STAND UP

*Abnormal doesn't mean unhealthy.

*Being older means you have more embarrassing moments to write about, ..great for stand up comedy.

*Being younger means you have more unknowns that cause angst to write about,...also great for comedy.

*Sarcasm needs wit behind it, on stage and off.

*Studying comedy isn't just good preparation to do comedy, studying comedy IS comedy.

*Really great, 'born to do it comics', make it look easy. It isn't.

*Big league comics behave as if they are on their way somewhere. They are.

*There are many levels to the stand up comedy game and they're all good. Some pay better but none call for less brilliance to do it well.

*Open mic is a career for some people. Don't get caught up in this. Festivals, showcases, contests have their place but don't continually fill your calendar with them. Aspire higher. You and your act should have forward motion. Fish in deeper waters.

*A true comedic artist has value, don't sell yourself short. Allow others to think you're a diva if they want. Stand up for what is the best for the art in you.
