2015 Coaching Stand Up Comics and Comedy Writers
“Sometimes I feel comedy was the most fun for me when it was more of a struggle, when I didn't know so damn much about the psychology behind it, in front of and all around it. I loved the unknowing, the romantic adventure of discovery. I don't ever want to rob somebody of that learning, experiencing and enlightening process”.
“What I think happens in dojo sessions is I help get some cumbersome things out of the way and point a talent along the right paths, thereby saving him/her a lot of time on the way to getting to that inevitable place where the artist must take over and make the art their own”.
“My place as a coach is to while aiding the comic talent and walking a mile in their shoes, is to also stay out of their way, a finesse I believe to be only present in the highest of coaching; usually solely accomplished by someone that has been there and done that and has, let's face it, even gone beyond. That's my goal in the Comedy Dojo, is to give a comedic artist that type of informative yet delicate and passionate assistance from a stand up comic and comedy writer that has made all the painful sacrifices and mistakes to know”.
“Though beginners are welcome, the dojo is a personal coaching situation within a workshop atmosphere and is most certainly NOT your commonplace comedy class”.
