Comedy is a waiting art form. A comic is ALWAYS waiting for something. A call back from a booker agent, waiting for the show to start or end, waiting in between shows, or to go on stage; or for some comic to get off stage, waiting in green rooms and at the back of the rooms, waiting in hotel rooms or at airports, bus stations, ...waiting for a cab....LOTS of waiting on transportation omg sooo much waiting for rides and waiting in traffic in general...jeez. Waiting to get paid is the hardest sometimes, you just want to move on so you can wait some more at another gig.
Waiting to hear, LOTS of waiting to hear in comedy. The new sit-com, the writing job, a special, a gig of any sort...always waiting to hear back.
They say that all things come to those who wait, then THAT will surely be a comedian. We're ALWAYS waiting. Waiting for that big break can take years! So it's cool to wait but don't ever look like you're lingering....waiting is part of the business, lingering is just sad.
Become successful at waiting and make that constructive, maybe that's the lesson huh? It is about time management after all.
Perhaps good things come to those who wait smartly??
I guess we could just wait and see.
(see what I did there?)
