QUIET RANT LEADS TO A NEW BIT

Posted on September 29, 2014 at 10:34 AM Comments comments (11)

I was at the supermarket the other day and got one of those terrible shopping carts. You know the type, it already had a kid in it.

Don't get me wrong I like kids, except the noisy ones.

Say what you will children often come equipped with everything they need to do anything they want in life, except be quiet.

At a certain young age it seems there is an impossibility about being quiet. Anything worthwhile comes with noise.

No noise, no fun.

It's all about shout outs and loud speakers.

Not so much when you get older; everything good seems to come with a reduction in noise level. I think there's a reason our music goes from Rock N Roll to Easy listening.

Society LOVES for us to be quiet. There are signs everywhere asking for us to do that very thing.
Quiet please! Please proceed quietly.

We even had designated quiet zones.

This is the quiet zone, feel free to come here and be quiet.

We developed a quiet way of asking other people to be quiet down. “Shhhhhhh”...... or simply like a mime putting your finger to your lips.

Zip it gesture. Key lock for the mouth. Mothers everywhere fav quiet signals.

Hand signals to be quiet...palms down waving downward. We act like a 3 base coach sometimes getting people to quiet down.

Other ways to say be quiet? Do not disturb!
I'm sorry he can't be disturbed with loud things right now.
May I have your complete attention? Other words, be quiet and listen!

If you've ever had somebody give you the 'silent treatment' you know how powerful quiet can be. Try it. It led to this rant which will lead to a comedy routine for me. Coming soon. The quiet block. ;)
See what I did there about rants? Aren't you glad I wasn't quiet about it?
