WORKING WITH NEW COMEDIANS

Posted on August 1, 2014 at 11:46 AM Comments comments (4)
Say what you want about new comedians but for the most part they're a group of men and women that are trying hard to push the envelope of stand up comedy. They desperately are attempting not to be hacky in premises and takes on topics to the point they talk it to death. I applaud that for real. That talk is necessary. Talk is always necessary for change. Insightful talk and actions are completely necessary for a change in an art form.

The bottom line is, I've been lovin what I have witnessed in the past few years and I wouldn't even in the slightest attempt to turn that herd of energy and flow of creativity that's currently going on in stand up... for nothing; it's needed and it's funny and if anything can bring comedy back to prominence it will be this new, fresh, most talented spirit.  They're not just talking about art they're BEING art...and much of it is funny thoughtful, insightful stuff.

Kudos to the new comics that get it, and for god sakes I hope you keep bustin the balls of some old & newer comics that don't get it. We're past the days of simple joke formulas and seltzer down the pants type material. It's a growth thing, I'm all for it.
