LIKE BILL COSBY SAYS, 'FAR FROM FINISHED'

You know even at my age and my experience I still do everything I can to improve upon what I do in comedy. Perhaps it was just a need, (I may have been just so far behind), but I feel like improve is exactly what I do year after year.

Every single year something else slips in that I didn't realize about writing or technique, I apply some new psychology, or perhaps all it is- is that I dig a little deeper into my consciousness for what is funny in me and what I do best. One thing I know is that all the rules for being funny are ever present in our DNA, it's just that we are required not only to discover them but bolster confidence in ourselves to USE them. I think I'm at that point only now that I'm going to start doing more of this. It's simple, find your strengths, use them.

I know I did a search of that years before and it immediately paid off. I realized a few comedy strengths, one of which was writing monologue jokes from pop culture stories. I did pretty well with that revelation, writing for NBC 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno' and 'Mother Goose & Grimm' cartoonist Mike Peters, 'Bob and Tom' nationally syndicated radio show, 'Mabe in America' CMT ...etc etc. But yet there's still more to discover I know and so my search and research continues.

I understand that this time it's personal. I guess that should be my mantra ;) I want to become not only a great comedian but one of the spiritual ones, a comic that is funny and has something behind his comedy besides selfishness and personal glory. I'm after a live show that is reflective of human nature and puts a funny spin on things that hasn't really been seen before...it's time for the song of stand up to hear a few notes from me. ;) Wish me luck.

Somebody said it, 'When you're done learning, you're done!'
I'm far from being finished.
